As I entered my junior year, I began to feel the immense pressure of landing the internship of my dreams. I thought to myself: this is going to be the first step to making my family proud and paying off my loans. The previous summer I worked at my friend's automotive shop. I ran the front desk and tried to get my hands on as much Human Resources experience as possible to pad my weak resume. I was hungry for more.
Looking back, I kick myself because if I had known about USC's career placement website, maybe I would have worked somewhere larger and landed my dream position at Disney this summer. Hearing that you just don't have enough experience is one of the most disheartening pieces of news that an ambitious young adult could hear.
I was lucky enough to still earn the opportunity to do HR at a 5,000 person law firm in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles this summer. But what if they had picked someone else? This has renewed my hope of fulfilling my dreams after graduation. Without it I probably would have worked at the same shop, doing the same tasks that left me ill prepared for life after graduation.
There is a huge market for matching eager young people with businesses looking for fresh ideas from the next generation in the form of interns. At the Mattix Foundation for the Advancement of Educated Youth and Businesses Interested in Corporate Social Responsibility, we would like to focus on connecting employers with young talents who have the personality traits and ambition to be great candidates for a paid internship even if they lack the experience or connections that typically would earn them such an opportunity.

This organization is a passion of mine because it hits close to home. This would be monumental for my friend who had to complete her Work Study on-campus at the bookstore the first few years of college who wishes she could work as an accounting intern. Another person who would benefit is a young adult with a great personality and a passion for cooking in his kitchen while babysitting his siblings. He would love the opportunity to work side-by-side bakers at a local bakery that would usually not think to recruit an intern.
By giving young people the opportunity to support themselves and to learn the necessary real-world skills that they need to have long term success, we will be the first world-wide intermediary platform to provide such a revolutionary social media.
I am aware of at least one other business that connects homeless youth with employment; however, we are different because this company has the potential to be a network for businesses and educated youth all around the world no matter their living situation.
By helping others and the economy as a whole, my business will generate revenue from the adds that run on our website. I simply need Anima Mundi Development Partners to support the initial investment and marketing that will make this dream a reality for thousands of students.
